When does the E-INK patent end? I want a cheap $50 1420x1000, 6.5" E-READER with miroSD support!

The main one expired last October but the patent holding company still has lots of other ammunition they can use. And we need some other major company to set up a production line for China to copy. It'll probably be a couple more years.

That's literally never going to happen because AMOLED won.
Just use your phone unless it has IPS eye cancer in which case you should consider getting a new phone.

never going to be as good as e paper for reading off of, hell, I only use the lcd screen because its less of a hassle, but fuck me if anyone makes an e-paper monitor, i'm buying it day one as it would be so much nicer to read off of then a normal monitor.

>washing machines are literally never going to happen because cars won
Is 6" too small? A 6.8" Kobo costs $100 more just for that 0.8"...

This is coming from someone who bought a kindle paperwhite. I don't have a huge purse to store a giant e-ink reader, a camcorder, cd player, and fm radio. Also words look crystal clear and I don't get any eye fatigue my iPhone 6s used to cause me.
My S7 active does all these things perfectly and is slim despite being a rugged phone.
An affordable A4 sized e-reader would be absolutely invaluable for anyone who has to do research involving reading a lot of journal articles, it's painful to read them on the computer and current e-readers are too small so you end up with a ton of paper printed out

If you can pay $10000 a year for subscriptions to journals then you can pay $1000 for an ereader faggpt.

The people who do the research aren't the ones paying for the journal subscriptions and usually aren't rolling in cash
