the keys that not all keycap sets include are the 1u right alt, fn, right ctrl, and 1.75u right shift.

also the right hand side del, pageup, pagedn, end, but if you're not too picky about the rows or if you get blank keycaps or if you get keycaps in an unsculpted profile they won't be a problem.

these sets include the 1.75u right shift and the del, pageup, pagedn, end in the correct rows (the normal home key is already in the correct row):

(also has colored 1u bottom row keys as optional extras)

they also include the 5.5u spacebar which fits noppoo choc mini (see >>60277227 >>60277248) but drevo gramr uses a normal 6.25u spacebar which pretty much all keycap sets include

They really are reddit switches, as is this whole hobby. Professionals have typed away for years before gamers and hipsters rediscovered mechanical keyboards and started special-snowflakeing every miniscule detail while pretending it matters.

There are regular ass people out there who type a lot better than you. They often don't give a flying fuck about what they're using and if they do care, their wishlist does not include obscure modified switches which somehow invariably end up in rooms filled with anime figurines or lying in the grass being photomodels for vapid fucking cunts who think showing off their purchases online is a legitimate hobby.

>>
>>60312274
what are the switches in the bottom right?

i have a board with matias quiet click in them and i like them, but its still not very tactile. it may sound like blasphemy but i like the almost binary action on cheaper keyboards. there is resistance til you apply enough pressure and then you get very little travel and you know immediately that the key has been pressed.

are there any mechanical switches with that much of a tactile response? where there is no need to bottom out the key because its super clear when youve hit it?

USA

Brown, Red, I don't really know. I haven't owned a mechanical keyboard since the mid-90s. The K95 RGB Platinum has Cherry MX Speed, how's that rate on the switch chart for gaming? Brown too.

ANSI

Currently using das keyboard model s ultimate with cherry mx browns. Bezzles could be smaller and level with the underside of the keys to make it easier to clean, and the numpad is getting in the way of my mouse placement.

Something like the Vortex Pok3r plus function- and navigation keys would be ideal.

Any ideas?

Vast majority of the planet does just fine with full sized keyboards and never considers that other layouts even exist. But here you are advocating row frugality like it remotely fucking matters to anyone. And no, pretending that it matters so you can live out a bullshit fantasy where you're some sort of professional with special needs does not count as something that matters.

The only mechanical keyboard I've owned (and still use today) is the Razer Blackwidow. I have one of the original ones with proper Cherry blues, not Razer switches. I like the keyboard; but it's too large with it's xbox huge bezel, macro keys I don't use, and numpad I don't need.

What keyboard would you recommend under $200 CAD with Cherry Blue switches and tenkeyless?

Can I get an opinion on the Steelseries M500? It seems like a pretty decent full-sized mechanical keyboard on a budget. Everything else I've managed to find for that price has that gross gaymur design.
>>
>>60316357
sounds like you're just jealous. Tho just so you know these keycaps sell for like 30-50 bucks depedning in how complex it is. Its the scalpers who sell them for $500
>>
>>60316476

You're talking like there's something inherently "proper" to cherries. I've tried one of the newer Razer keyboards that feature their own Kalih made switches and liked it better than any common cherry offering.

I've got an old Chicony with ancient cherry blues that I like better than what they are like now. They are slightly lighter with less stubborn actuation. Some would swear by that, but if it didn't say "cherry" on the switch, they'd pretend it's a bad thing.

Cherry worship is entry level, you gotta get over that.
>>
>>60316476
since you are canadian, why not buy a canadian mechanical keyboard. there is one thing you canucks do better then the germans, and that is proper tactility.
>>
>>60316520
I'm jealous of expensive cars, big houses, good food and some other things. Plastic skulls, monkeys and dongs - not so much. "Artisan" is just a fag word usually used by flannel wearing beardo nu males (used to call them hipsters, but people are so sick of hipsters they groan at the word itself).

Funny you should post that, I mentioned my own several posts back. I'm assuming this is the KB-5191. This one is a kinder surprise deal where you never know which switches you're gonna get. Some indeed came with blues, like yours and mine.

Yes, they will be compatible with modern keycaps. However, you can't just order a modern ANSI set and call it a day. With this layout, you'll have two problems:

Ctrl and Alt are 1.5 sized, as opposed to the modern ANSI 1.25.

Big ass enter key -- just forget finding a keycap for this. However, you can get a modern 2.25 enter and put a dummy 1.5 above it so there's no unsightly hole.

As long as you get that sorted, you're good.
>>
>>60316789

Also forgot to mention: you'll need a 7u spacebar. These are a bit rare, I'm looking for one myself.

I also purchased a Rantopad MXX and will wait to test it before getting any keycaps. Had read it has thin abs keycaps. They will prolly be fine for me l, never used a mechanical before.
>>
>>60316945

You did use your chicony though, didn't you. I mean, it's a mechanical keyboard.

You don't actually need anything fancy to get it working. Just a AT to PS/2 adapter and then a PS/2 to USB adapter if you don't have a PS/2 output on your motherboard.

There is a tactile bump in brown switches, no matter how much you dislike them, and there is obviously no sand or grittiness inside a greased, molded plastic assembly. It's impossible.

Don't be obtuse.

The Bitcoin's gone up a whole lot and a local webshop that accepts it as payment is selling this. They don't appear to have any other interesting mechanical keyboards, it's mostly "Cooler master" and "Corsair" and I have the impression that those are garbage with a brand sticker on them.

I was focusing about your mention of blues and not browns. You were factually incorrect about blues and that is why I labeled your opinions as trash. I've seen your posts a couple of times before and you always have that same filco with those shitty keycaps. Its clear now that you shouldn't be talking about keyboards. I was factually incorrect about my opinion of blues being annoying to other people in a house?

So the room-mate I used to have, who used blue switches, didn't annoy me all day long, through two closed doors?

And the MX Blue Razor I had for a week and a half, which drove me to get rid of it after trying to be sneaky in first person shooters, wasn't annoying to me personally?

I didn't know that. Much appreciated, anon. :) I'll try to fix that in future posts.

The moment you build up any speed typing, the tactile bump starts feeling like a grit of dirt, as if you were typing on dirty reds. Unless you type at 20 WPM, you'll blow right through the tactile bump when typing.

Given the amount of conversations I've had here, I indeed don't remember you (unless you're the joker guy).

The threads here are business as usual, I'm doing fine, going to have copious amounts of time on my hands in the coming months, so you can expect to see some more custom boards. I finally finished that numpad (still have to smooth out the base, though maybe I'll just make some changes to the model while I'm at it.
Also in the process of making this board, it's going to be a birthday present, but I still have some time. Going to have a laser-cut and laser-etched metal plate on the top, a wooden centerpiece for the case, and a wooden bottom plate, possibly with another metal plate on the bottom.
>>
>>60325656

Don't poke that color wheel at me. The pristine plastic of the keycaps is at odds with the rust. If he really wanted rust to work, he should have done it in the context of one of those obnoxious steampunk fake typewriter keyboards. But then he'd have a fake steampunk typewriter.

If you have to use rust for decoration purposes, it should be used as accent only, in combination with wood and metal.

>molding cases from PBT
why would you want to do that
>>
>>60326660
pbt is more resistant to wear than abs

but if you're going all custom you could probably figure out a nice design with metal instead of plastic
>>
>>60326728
But a case is big and wont get repeated fingers typing on them so it is less likely to wear than keycaps would.
the reason why topre board come with abs spacebars is because pbt warps faster so its faster and easier (and cheaper ofc) to produce (matias made some good bucks out of this). if you want my advice on making a case out of pbt, take lots of time dont rush and try to keep it in shape till its cooled and solid or do it in

I know its more resistant and will get that ugly shine less fast its just less convenient to make for what its worth imo

well goodluck wished

Maltron vs kinesis

I really would love to get a maltron but kinesis seems superior

easy for if you want to try and not buy based on layout
>macros can be stored into the keyboard
as I use emacs this isnt too important but outside of emacs it could be super useful
>easy quick key mapping
gaming or something stupid maybe?

Maltron wins in the way it looks (for me) atleast I think its look more comfortable but cant judge it since I havent tried it
>the keycaps are better
>more buttons
love that it has a numpad without it being in the way or adding extra space it just adds weight

it has the same faults as other wireless devices, so I really don't know what you trying to imply. The auto pair features are nice and the range is pretty good too.
>>
>>60329712
people use bluetooth and wifi all the time with no major issues
>>
>>60329628
If it's for use with multiple devices why do you want old school wireless that requires you to move a dongle between them, instead of a good Bluetooth board that can pair with three devices and switch between them with a key combo

Need full-size keyboard for work
Price not an issue
Good experience with browns in a majestouch 2, but might enjoy firmer keys.
Grateful for any recommendations

that's the standard way to touch type. it's completely fine if you're used to it and you angle your left hand correctly

It would look a lot better if the keys also had a old/used/rusted effect. The rust and clean keys are too opposite to work well together.

just "quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog"ed 7-8 times and yeah, this chart is on point.

only time i look down at my keyboard is for the num row, somehow i just never internalized it but with my tada68 im forcing myself to learn.

Any heterosexual wise can help me with this?
I have a mechanical keyboard AULA SI-2012 (my keyboard has 87 keys, without leds, and is style ISO), and I would like to change their keycaps for keycaps kind classic, you know, white keys with black characters, to be more specific, I'm looking keycaps the most related with a Compaq SK-2800 (I love those keycaps)

http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTA2NlgxNjAw/z/xl4AAOSwezVWvV0K/$_57.JPG

Anyway, someone can recommend to me web pages to buy cheap keycaps (not translucent) the most related with this criterion?
my actual budget is $50 dollars. I already was surfing on a lot web pages, searching, and I found this:

OEM profile ANSI 87 (TKL) Top printedPBT Keycap for Cherry switch
https://shopkey.doyustudio.com/002capc22

Cherry profile TKL(87 keys) Top printedPBT Keycap for Cherry switch
https://shopkey.doyustudio.com/002capb22

Now, these are my questions:

1. That's a good price?
2. I should to buy Cherry profile or OEM profile?
3. Someone has a pciture of those keycaps but with an angle different like this one?:
https://i.imgur.com/kn8u8Ui.png
4. If I buy those keycaps, I will have conflict with another keys than "ENTER" and "\|", I mean, I can't just put all the new keycaps and just keep those two keycaps from my original set of keyboard?
5.Someone has experience about shipping costs buying from Taiwan? I send an email to doyustudio, and they told me that the shipping cost will be around $8 dollars, that's a good price? I will not need to pay anything else?
6. Someone can tell me what kind of profile of keycaps has my AULA SI-2012?

Friendly reminder that 75% is the best layout.

Avoid Noppo choc mini with Noppoo switches though, they chatter horribly. I'm replacing my $90 imported choc mini with a fucking $40 drevo because of this.

What keycap set do you guys think will look nice on a board that looks just like pic related but has a black bezel?

What is a good mechanical replacement for the k120 Logitech keyboard?

I absolutely adore it's design, size, keystriking everything. But every mechanical keyboard I've looked into is absolutely shit tier. Some for "gaming" don't even have motherfucking numpads.
