iPad is the best dedicated tablet, Surface is kinda rough as a tablet because Windows has awful app support and in general isn't suited for exclusive use in tablet mode.

Of course the Surface makes up for that by having a fully functional version of Windows, which might be more what you are looking for. I use a SP4 and love it.

Android tablets are not worth talking about.

Depends on what you want. Basically if you want a tablet that functions as a laptop, get a Surface Pro. If you want a laptop that functions as a tablet, get a Surface Book.

The Pro has a lot less power than a docked Book.

Surface Laptop is just pointless.

I have a Nexus 9, not sure if i'd want to get another android tablet. I'd lean towards an iPad if you want pure tabletness, but honestly i'd rather have an ultrabook.

Being able to draw with a pen seems like a nice feature though... which makes a surface worth considering.
