Titan x 2016 vs titan x 2017
Oddly having trouble finding good comparison sources due to them having the same name. Also seems most are geared more for gamers so there is a ton of 1080 ti vs the new titan but not titan vs titan.

What are you exactly looking to do with a Titan?

Get 240fps in 4k

I use it for running equations for error analysis in excel so trying to figure out if there is a marked improvement in the 2017 version of the 2016 card. Trying to see which one to get but even buying them is difficult since they look the same to even know which would be which.
What I know is that the 2017 version has more cores which is useful, freq seems the same?

Yeah seems to be the case considering your case I'd go with the 2017 version.

more cuda cores would lead to faster number crunching under LOD I think its referred too but ugh even finding them to buy is annoying since they all look the same without looking at cores counted on the card once gotten, or the model number on the individual card its a real pain the ass and easy for someone to pass off a 2016 model for a 2017 one it seems.
fucking nvidia could at least change the name or something.
The TXP 2016 is worthless now, unless you buy it used. The only advantage over a 1080 Ti is more memory bus and 1 GB more VRAM.
Even if money was no reason I would always prefer the 1080 Ti, get one of the high-TDP versions. Titans will always throttle at some point due to their restricted power target.
