/g/ I want to start learning how to program. I took GML and Alice courses in my early education, but I want to learn something more practical, like I want to start designing android apps.
Google says I should learn Java, html, and css for app building. Is this true?

It's one of the primary ways to build Android apps.
I personally like scala-android. Others (mainly game developers) stick with C++ and various other frameworks.

A hacks and odds n' ends scripting language.
Good for that. Not good for most games or bigger applications.

C# and .NET core are pretty good to start with. There are probably templates available for android.
Javascript(not java) is also a good choice. It's becoming very popular and there's a lot of good frameworks out there for it.
