I ran gentoo on my beaten T410s, it has SSD and 8GiB and I5 M560.

I plan to pick something with more RAM though and probably with four real cores.

You do realise that Gentoo is just a meme, right? No one uses it, because it sucks. And so do old used thinkpads. If you're a poorfag, they are an option, but if you want to buy two SSDs, you don't seem that poor.

My T420 just came in yesterday.

Has a 3.2GHz i5, 5GB (1x4GB and 1x1GB) RAM, 320GB 7200 RPM HDD, 1600x900 panel, and some Nvidia mobile card. Also in mint physical condition.

I paid $140 including shipping.

Slapped Fedora 25 on that bitch, runs like butter.
