What would you say about learning programming just for the sake of it?
pic unrelated, but spiders can be cute
You need to have a goal or you will lose interest.
What kind of needs do you want to fill?
What kind of software are you interested in writing?
Before you can do any of that, however, you need a solid foundation in programming language constructs.
These are near-universal to every programming language since nearly all successful languages copied their features from C.
The largest hump in programming is learning how to dissolve problems into something a dumb procedural adding machine can handle.
I got this after 6 weeks, people are different.
It never clicks for some people, these people end up working as web developers.
I highly recommend you start with C.
It's a simple language that forces you to manage your own memory and roll your own data structures because the standard library is very small.
It'll teach you how a computer actually works without being forcefed 40 years of abstractions that are difficult for a newcomer to understand without seeing how it works underneath.
Other languages have gigantic libraries that grow obsolete with time and have decades of legacy cruft, C has none of this, because it never grew out to begin with. It's why C is still in use today despite being 45 years old.

Do it for fun I guess.

>tfw started trying to self-learn programming using C++ because there's no Visual Novel readers for iOS.
>that's one of my main goals in trying to learn programming
>starting off with C++ because my university's introductory computer science classes all use C++ and I plan to take those in the near future
>all because I want to read my anime stories on my phone
is this is a stupid goal

If it works you better spread that shit.

I literally just started learning like 2 weeks ago
give it some time, fellow. Like, years time Depending on how quickly I can pick up this knowledge. I'll use your reply as even more motivation to continue to learn this stuff
Gotta aim high, a-am i rite?
