Do I need to uninstall my old video card drivers before installing a new card? I put in a new card without uninstalling the old drivers and I got a black screen with the new card. It wouldn't detect a display. Old card is 6870, new is GTX 1060.

It was just a black screen with no text. The monitor was on but there was no picture at all. I put old card back in and it worked fine. Also the only other change was putting in some new sticks of RAM but I didn't think that could affect it. I bought the same exact sticks but I dunno.

You should always clean drivers while switching from completely different brands. It's common sense.

If you couldn't see the boot screen then the card was just badly put in.
