How is this allowed, /g/? How is this happening? Do professional ''''''reviewers'''''' of HDMI cables believe their own bullshit or is there some grand scam going on?

>His HDMI cable doesn't have chunky bass and enthusiastic presentation, and most likely lacks verve in the highs. It probably doesn't have a solid grasp of motion and panning shots. It probably displays a muted palette.
If all I'd ever used was a $5 dollar piece of shit I'd probably believe the "all HDMI cables are the same" meme.

I haven't only used $5 HDMI cables and I certainly believe the "all HDMI cables are basically the same" meme.

There are some things to be said about durability and construction, but so long as all the pins are connecting you're not improving things.

That's not entirely true, some cables aren't capable of the full 18Gbps throughput needed for 4K 4:4:4 signals.
>>
>Interconnect quality doesn't affect the image and audio
U wot m8? Garbage in garbage out. Until you've used a cable that makes the picture really pop you don't get to have an opinion.
>>
>>60189345
But any cable capable of 4K 4:4:4 is equally capable of 4K 4:4:4, so any price difference is again only worthwhile when it comes to durability and construction.
>>
>>60189373
>garbage into the cable, garbage out of the cable
Exactly.

The only expensive HDMI cable that justify their cost are RedMere's cables, i have worked on A/V installing projectors and such and they are the only cables that work over 20Mts.

Retards. It's a digital signal. If it's no good the image screws up majorly. You have to change the code to change the image.
Fucking Xphiles. Always thinking shit works like record players.

If 'muh digital' is all the same then why aren't you running your rig on a 5400RPM HDD?

I'm actually running SSD's in RAID 0. Even then the issue would be bit flip. Not pitch or amplitude of a wave.
>>
Fact is that the only real difference in HDMI cables is the amount of resistance in the wires and contacts.

This doesn't mean that expensive cables will outperform cheap cables. Some cheap cables will punch above their weight while some expensive cables are just charging for brand name.

If it works then it works equally well. If you paid 10x the price or more then you're an idiot.

End of story.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

just 80 bucks for that spicy cable

FUCK YOU. The HDMI retracted on my second screen and I can't get it back in.
>>
>>60189233
It's a scam yes.
Scams are not against the law if the person themselves agrees to pay the money and actually gets the product.
>>
I crimp my own HDMI cables.
