E-readers are /g/, right? I'm in the market for one and I was wondering if anyone wanted to share some insight. I don't need any pseudo-tablet features, just something to read books with.
how about a book
e readers are dumb and an example of superfluous tech
I've got a second gen Kindle and I love it. If you've already got a Amazon account it's pretty convenient. I hear tho Kobo ereaders are easier to pirate on, but I've never tried on mine.

Books can get expensive, heavy, and bad for low light environments. E-readers definitely have their place.
I am also interested OP. I don't want to pay a lot though.

How much do e-books cost you typically? I have an Amazon Prime account but I'd rather pirate desu.

Classics are usually free. Popular stuff is usually a dollar over or under the physical book price. I haven't bought anything though, my brother let me sync his amazon account on my kindle and I downloaded all his stuff and still haven't finished it.

I had a nook simple touch with glowlight and liked it. Broke it trying to add a qi charger though.
I have a Kobo aura one now. It's thin, light, pretty comfortable to hold. Display is way more crisp than my prior reader
It's super easy to sideload books using calibre.
I love that series information is automatically used to populate collections.
The f.lux thing is nice as is the automatic brightness adjustment.
My quibbles are minor - I'd like to be able to sort collections by series order; I'd like to be able to set custom screensavers; every so often it takes an extra swipe/tap to turn the page.
thoughts on this?

I use Kobo since their store actually has the option of DRM-Free if a publisher chooses.
