Is there a book that teaches how to minimise bugs while programming in C?

Haven't read it.
(Heck, I don't even program).

The trick is to be responsible. Don't skip checking error codes on return values. Don't neglect to call free() when you're done with an allocation. Pay attention.
How you handle errors determines the quality of your code.
I recommend using a goto or two at the end of each function. Don't listen to Dijkstra on this matter.
