For what reason would I need a CPU which was better than a g4560?
I'm thinking of a new build and while a ryzen sounds good, I'm not sure under what circumstances I will actually use it.
Can someone redpill me?

no need, I bought a g4600 back in January because they didn't have the 4560 in stock, i regret spending 30 extra bucks. There's no reason to buy anything other than a 4560 in the current year and probably in the current decade

If you were to use a processor with more cores, you would run CAD and other processing intensive programs much better.
For gaming there is no real improvement with more cores so the only thing that would be better than your processor for that would be one with a higher frequency and larger cache.
Depends on how much you multitask and use multithreaded workloads. If you're just gaming and shitposting, you don't need anything more.

If you can't think of any use case scenario for it then you probably don't need it

Self-respect?
Peer esteem?
Only you know the real answer.
