I got a mid 2009 MBP on release and the battery is still at 50 - 60% health. Considering that battery tech improved in those 5 years, I doubt you'd need a new one unless you really need the 7h+ battery life.

yeah my pal has a 2013 and it has TONS of cycles, way more than normal (his daddy told him that you're always supposed to charge to full and fully deplete before plugging back in and don't leave on charger) and his battery is still "okay" the life is cut about in half from stock.
