oh geezus im going crazy wih this one ...
picked up an iMac (model a1225 thats all i know) cheap the other day. i fully expect it to not work, or need some repair.
so i get home plug it in and it begins to start up and get to me the screen with a folder and a ?
cool, no software installed. easy. i stick my retail OS X disc in and am unable to boot from the disc.
so i tried about 4 other OS X discs, same thing. furthest i got was a gray screen with a cursor (hours of waiting nothing ever loads)
then i decide to stick an ubuntu disc in (who knows, maybes its a bad dvd drive) BAM ubuntu loads, recognizes the HDD, and installs.
so now here i am with an iMac with Ubuntu 14.04 installed.
hardware tests on ubuntu shows everything is good, all memory is present and usueable, hdd is correct size, video card is recognized, and working.
stick my OS X disc in while running ubuntu, and it shows an install disc (obvously cant run it tho)
what im getting at is wtf is going on? everything is good, i just cant boot from an OS X disc.
just tried it with a windows 7 disc, same thing. shows up in ubuntu, but cant boot from it.
also i am using a windows keyboard ... idk if that makes a difference. dont really wanna go buy a new keyboard
sounds like a firmware issue

Give it back, Jaquavious.
Try creating image of one of your osx disks or torrent one and then create a bootable thumb drive.
