Why don't you have 12TB of storage, /g/?
How many shekels does it cost?
>>60080905
I don't have that much of a space requirement for my chinese cartoons yet.
Because I only hoard old shit like BBS scene dumps and that's not a lot of data in this day and age. PC is by far the largest data pile and it makes me wonder how they managed to archive that back in the days.
I do eventually want to hoard other scene releases though. Any ideas and tips on what to archive?

>PMR
>Didn't require shingled recording meme
Holy mother of god, how did they cram it all?
>>60080905
I have 14TB already but going from 3 drives to 1 would make room for more animu.
what's the failure rate on those bad boys
>>60081305
Very VERY low in general from HGST, but we'll have to see with the 12TB.
Are they fast?
>>60081305 good question.
>don't want WD green
>dont want seashit
>HGST is my only choice but overpriced
And for 12TB I need another 24TB of redundancy, so it's better to just get the 10/8GB seashits and hope not all drives in my RAID5 don't fuck up at once
>>60081322
Good point.
HGST > 2010 Western Digital > 2005 Maxtor > 2017 Toshiba

>>Why don't you have 12TB of storage, /g/?
I do, actually. It's just in the form of a dozen drives in a ZFS array, instead of one drive.
Anyway >>60081018 asked the right question. I'm not interested in paying more than $30/TB.
>>60081359
Hey you forgot about Seaga...
what's the point? for me all my data fits in 100 gbytes.
>>60081377
>what's the point?
ITS NOT FOR YOU, FUCKING RETARDED CUNT
ITS AN ENTERPRISE DRIVE
>>60080905
i have 18TB already, and the cost of replacing one of them when they break is way cheaper than that 12tb drive.
>>60080905
>Helium
Let me guess it eventually escapes and it all goes fucked up, right?
>>60081400
but the op said why don't I have one
>using large drives
>1 failure results in catastrophic loss of data
I'd rather not have such a large single point of failure since I'm too retarded to RAID.
>>60081410
The only thing escaping is the air found in your cranial cavity.
>>60081410
No, its filled with helium so it can float into the atmosphere eventually and be an actual cloud drive.
:^)
>>60081428
Underrated post.
>>60081322
they are high quality but some models are loud, i have older 2TB and it keeps making noises like very old HDDs, thats how it is.
>>60081469
Same with my WD Black.
Performance makes noise.

Here anon.

You took it literally? Are you new?
>>60080905
I can already hear my RAID card beeping
>>60081552
Hitachi is fucking trash.
