Is displayport a meme?
If not, what are the advantages other than 4k support (which at the current moment is a meme too)

HDMI is the meme.
>I'm poor so its a meme
>>60036926
4k isn't a meme, this isn't 3-4 years ago. DisplayPort is basically a superior DVI. The next revisions for HDMI and DP both look promising, but DP is not a meme.

its gaming meme. just bought into it too. cuz i game.
displayport supports higher hertz monitors. Which is nice for fluidity in gaming.
However, so does DVI-D dual link, but it just so happens that designers are hella over that shit and graphics cards are getting more and more displayport ports

>what is bandwidth
A thing that can be used for much more than muh gayming
>>60036926
It can be used for high-speed data transfers and can be used for example as high-speed ethernet or USB connectivity.
DVI or DispayPort for pc monitor and why?
>>60038196
Whichever you have room for. DVIs are generally cheaper so unless you have some unmentioned requirements i'd go with that
8K 60FPS support through a single cable in next DP standard, 1.5? 2.0?
DP 1.4 currently needs 2 cables for 8K 60FPS, 30FPS max with 1 cable

>hdmi licence
>>60036926
>using DRMĀ® cables
my monitor supports 144 Hz freesync only over DP for DVI dual link, so DP is no meme to me.

I literally run two 4k monitors with displayport, you poorfag
it will be replaced by usb c soon enough
>>60038752
>literally
>>60038800
he literally probably does
Eventually HDMI will catch up so the difference is small. I rather we connect everything with PoE.
