What lightweight OS does /g/ suggest for a decade old laptop? Main use is websurfing and movie watching. Specs are in the image.

try a custom install of your favourite linux distro and install openbox
>>
You could try using Lubuntu

I've never used Linux. I don't have a favorite. But reading about openbox I would really like a distribution that already comes with it or anything as light.

You could try crunchbang++ but the only problem being that it uses debian as its core which mean you'l be running really old versions of packages and the linux kernel. You could also try Ubuntu Server 16.04.2 and then installing OpenBox on top of that to get a desktop environment, it wouldn't be that hard.

Gentoo. Compiling the entire system the first time will take forever but if you take advantage of the USE flags correctly you will end up with a much lower RAM usage than you could on any other distro.

I think it's misreporting. The laptop is somewhat warm, but not blistering like it would be at that temperature. It was cleaned beforehand.
