Should I upgrade from a 7700k to a Ryzen? /g/ says Ryzens are a huge upgrade.
>>
>>60029812

Are you seriously asking this question?

No, keep your 7700k
>>
>>60029812
If you're doing heavily multithreaded workloads, it is an upgrade. Otherwise, it's more of a sidegrade.
>>
>>60029877
What if I do heavily multithreaded loads, is it an upgrade then?
>>
>>60029812
Yes. Give money to poo-in-loos to build more toilette
>>
>>60029812
Yes, at worst it's a side grade, at best you can get up to twice the performance you currently have
In muh gaems you will get much higher mins while keeping the same averages
>>
>>60029893
he literally says that in his reply..
>>
>>60029829
Huh? Is a Ryzen not a massive upgrade? I play a lot of video games and watch videos. /g/ was showing fps benchmarks with much better Ryzen performance.
>>
>>60029893
Yes, but in that case why did you buy the 7700k in the first place?
>>
The 7700k isn't even 2 years old yet. You're not going to get a significant enough performance boost to justify changing your CPU this soon.
>>
>>60029955
That's not OP, just some ass role playing as OP. I'm OP see >>60029949
>>
>>60029960
Is stutterlake housefire just a meme then?
>>
>>60029968

Any Ryzen processor will be slower in games in general compared to the 7700K.

When overclocking and maximum RAM speeds are factored in the Ryzen lineup falls even further.

A Ryzen processor will only be faster than a 7700K in tasks that require and can take advantage of ALL the threads of a CPU to 100% to the point where IPC and single thread speed are shadowed by it.
>>
>>60030105
Then why the /g/izzing about Ryzen?
>>
>>60030236

What gizzing? As I saw it the general consensus was that it was a dud.

Sure, it can challenge Intel when running Cinebench multi threaded and comparing points vs price, but that's about it.

It is a much better showing from AMD than in the previous 10 or so years, but nothing to write home about if gaming or anything lighter is what you do most of the time.
>>
>>60029812
you shouldn't have bought a 7700k in the first place you cuck
>>
>>60030236
because its better, shlomo
>>
>>60030514
if you think ryzen is a dud, you are retarded.
>>
>>60029923
you wont keep the averages, you will get acceptable averages, and usually FAR better minimums, but its game to game depending on how good the mins are.
>>
>>60029812
No. It'd be pointless even if you are doing heavy multithread shit.
>>
>>60030236

10% of them are trolls
10% are people that actually use multithreaded workloads
40% are secret poorfags who buy AMD because it's cheaper
40% are tinfoil hatters trying to stick it to the intel jew

It would only be an upgrade if you do production work that isn't gpu accelerated.

For gaming Ryzen would be a significant downgrade

Only if you actually enjoy shit tier frametimes.

It's in 'good enough' tier now.

yes

yes.
>>
>>60032153
I bet 75 % just buy Ryzen because its currently better. Intel won't be buyable until they reduce their prices or deliver similar performance.

Stay with Intel, remember With Intel, You Win.
>>
>>60029812
No! Ryzen is better for people choosing between the two not people who already have the 7700k. The gains are marginal and not worth the mobo-cpu swap.
