He isn't that important, someone will be selected instead of him. He even wanted to name GNU/Hurd "Alix" just because she was her girlfriend at that moment. Main developer refused and they broke up later. If Stallman was the main developer, GNU/Hurd would be named after a bitch who did nothing to contribute to project. He isn't perfect, like any human being, someone else could take his place.
