No this is an issue for all laptops unless they have really extra clunky and bulky water cooling modules. That laptop you're looking at has a 45 watt CPU and 120 Watt GPU. Typical laptops are only designed to be able to cool 15 watt chips effectively. Last I checked there are 0 laptops out there than can run that i7 above 2.6GHz constantly under load.

I got a "gaming" laptop for college because I was stuck at an awkward point where my old laptop was falling apart and my extremely underpowered desktop couldn't play games to save its life. I seriously regretted getting it and wish I instead built a new desktop and continued using the old laptop instead.

I have an asus with a 6700hq and 1070. It's an inch thick and doesn't thermal throttle. The hottest it gets is around 75c. Lasts about an hour to hour and a half off battery for gaming, 4-5 for regular use.

$1200 for all this isn't bad at all, as I would never actually take my desktop anywhere. Some of us do have social lives bud, drunk vidya at your buds is a fun night.
