Anyone on the same network can see any unencrypted traffic you send or receive. Unless there's a firewall between clients on the same access point (I'd be shocked if there was, usually cheap routers only firewall things between the internet and the local network) they can also send any traffic they like to your machine, which means they can try any exploits or whatnot that they care to. (or, malware that infected their machines can try any exploits it knows to spread to yours.)

Depends how dedicated they are, what security are you using?
>>
They would be able to see any content you send over the network using software like ettercap and Wireshark, I'm almost sure they don't know how to do this though.

I don't even think it's possible with any software available on Windows.

If you browse to a website through HTTPS, the content you send is encrypted, they would be able to know you browse 4chan, but not anything else other than that. If you browsed 4chan through normal HTTP, they would be able to see everything you're doing on 4chan, every thread/board you browse, and everything you post.

That's why HTTPS is important.

Wireshark runs on Windows, anon.

What about Ettercap or an alternative?

Wireshark alone is useless for sniffing traffic from other people's computers on the LAN.
>>
Most routers log web traffic by default, so they could pretty easily match your IP to what sites you've been visiting.
Better hide that shemale porn.

what do you mean "sniffing"?

wireshark literally just presents dumped packets in a gui

No, wireshark can do that. It's easier on wi-fi, actually, since you don't need to worry about a switch not putting packets on your port that aren't addressed to you. If you're associated with an AP wireshark can put any wi-fi card that supports it in promiscuous mode and hear anything anyone on the AP sends or receives. (monitor mode requires a unix-like OS, but his housemates are associated with the AP, so promiscuous mode, which is supported by wireshark on windows, is enough.)

Basically if you're using wi-fi, at all, ever, it's pretty easy for anyone physically close by to see all your traffic, especially if they're associated with the same AP. And obviously anyone who controls the router can do this. Anything you want kept private needs to be encrypted.
>>
>>60008959
Just get the admin pass of the router to lock them out from accessing the settings/logs

if you're using WPA then you must be on the same AP... otherwise you're just catching encrypted packets.

if you're on an encrypted AP, then all http traffic is visible to other people on the AP, but https will be encrypted.

Man in the middle attack, ARP poisoning, allows you to view traffic from other computers on the same local network.

Without using some method like ARP poisoning with Ettercap, you would not be able to see the traffic of other people on the local network.

Not unless you network file sharing enabled in Windows, and you share those files.

How old are you? 16?
>>
>>60008959
If they really wanted to: probably. This is assuming you don't have your computer set to share folders.

But in reality unless you have a reason to suspect your roommates want to try to be some kind of l33t h4ck3r that spys on his buddies porn history you shouldn't worry about it.
