can a shitty router/modem combo cause slow internet speeds if you are using a wired connection?
pic related, its something similar to this (the garbage they give you) almost no settings in the options like DNS or anything useful....
either way i only use wired connection to my PC but the internet speed is still slow as shit, im wondering if getting a better modem/router combo would make a difference or if that only applies to wireless.

ADSL is being phased out in Aus. If you have fiber connected in your town they may have dropped voltage on the phone line.
Normally should be 9V, but only need 5V for fiber to the node.
Strip a spare line and touch it to your tongue to find out. 5V won't give to a zap.

if it's cable - then go buy a gud modem
DSL is also possible but usually DSL isn't one for giving gud options
