Not really. They already earn money.

Now their focus is on expanding into real life, with voice and image recognition, google tanslate, cars and maps. So their ads can soon drive you to a nearby mcdonalds when you pass one with your car.

And making themselves irreplaceable by offering many free services. Microsoft and Apple try lock people in by making their software and hardware incompatible with other stuff. Google does it by making everything free.
