Get a braided cable, I have one that's currently lasting me a lot longer than any other before it, and still isn't showing signs of wear.

It's hilarious how a $800 phone can come with such a shitty cable. This is how Apple have $280billion in the bank.

>in class
>guy next to me pulls out an iphone charger
>the cable looks like it's been chewed, eaten and shit out by a dog
>"you'd think an $700 phone would come with a decent quality charger, huh" I tell him
>"w-well I've been u-using it for almost 2 years now!"
>"so? I've been using a charger from 2010, it's literally 6 years old and it has no problems whatsoever"
>"b-but I've been using it daily for the 2 years!"
>"so have I..."
>"b-but I always take it with me so the cable gets tangled in my backpack! so it's only natural!"
>"fucking kill yourself already" I think to myself, while imagining how I'm bashing his skull in in a toilet stall
make your own cable, it's easy and fun.

a slightly less comprehensive version of your picture, but I love this version so much

forgot the fucking picture
so does apple cheap out on the cords (either through planned obsolescence or just shitty materials) or do iphone fans tend to be less careful with their belongings?

Brought this 3 years ago and its still in perfect condition.

They're cheap, shitty materials not designed to be hard-wearing. And like $20 a pop are they?

>so does apple cheap out on the cords (either through planned obsolescence or just shitty materials)
it's for aesthetic reasons, they have next to no strain relief to maintain the minimalist look which is why every apple wannabe switched from using cables to moderate strain relief to cables with (almost) no strain relief
there is a genuine reason for cables to be shit though but when other brands cables are shit they have intermittent problems near the end of their life versus 'functional' apple cables literally fucking splaying themselves causing far more premature failure

>have to resort to 3rd party cords because apple is shit

Two years for a daily use cable is pretty great, especially if it's abused like the one (chewed)
