/lit/ here, what's the most /g/ approved eReader? looking to get one since I'm running out of space for books. I don't want a Kindle Paperwhite subsidized with (((special offers.)))
Just get an iPad and read it at lower brightness in reasonably lit room. E-ink is overrated and there is no scientific evidence it leads to lower eye strain.

Amazon Fire tablet.
I'm always using it when I'm on the train. I don't care if someone steals it from me since it's only $50 dollars.
Also lasts so fucking long compare to my Samsung Note 5.

>there is no scientific evidence it leads to lower eye strain.
is this true? I mean, we don't need to compare e-ink to backlit LCD: we just need to know whether backlit LCD causes eye strain when compared to looking at papers or whatever.
is it really true that there's 0 evidence that points towards backlit LCD:s causing some extra eye strain?
OP if you ant a new and "premium" device, just buy a new kobo
if you want to go cheap, most models are ok if they're either kobo, kindle or sony, probably nook is fine too

the /g/ answer is to get the special offers paperwhite, jailbreak, add runme.sh script to remove ad dirs
If you ever want to read more than e books on it get a tablet because most of these things have poor graphics processing and pdfs and the like load slow
Otherwise I think Kobo is the favorite since it has a lot of support and what not.
Some of the Amazon kindle variants can be rooted though and used the same way so it's worth comparing specs

A kobo because it has an ssh server and you can scp ebooks onto it over the network!
