So here's the thing: In exactly one week I have a job interview. Problem is, I am totally not qualified for the position and have no idea why I was invited. I want that job, though. I want it bad.
I'm a signal processing engineer at a small German company with a master's degree in electrical engineering. I dearly hate my current job so I just cranked out an application for a good-paying position as an (unspecified) telecommunications/network specialist at one of Germany's largest state-run suppliers of technology for the police and armed forces. I never gave it much thought but to my dismay I was actually invited for an interview.
Now all I know about computers is how to put them together, install Windows and browse pornhub or play vidya. I used some boring stuff like Matlab and Python and sheit in university but I haven't used all that in years. I know nothing about Linux or network administration except for Richard Stallman memes, animu wallpapers and ricing.
I'm a smart fella though and might be able to learn on the job but first I have to get in. So what would you guys do? Is there a crash course for network security/architecture and Linux stuff that will get me through an interview? Should I put on Tom Cruise contact lenses and stream the questions to /g/ so you can slip me the answers?
This is really fucked up, man.

Not security related, but here is something.
Bash cheat sheet.

Need more info on a program/command?
man program
program --help
These might help, but i have no idea what you will be doing.

I was called one time, to an interview for a position I was not in any way qualified
on the 2nd interview, I even told the person it there was an error
anyway, I kept moving forward, until the 5th interview
didn't get the position
I am not sure if I was just PR stuffer, or that they really wanted someone and they were pretty desperate
I understand they didn't get me:
1 I was not qualified
2 I literally acted a little disinterested, just because I was surprised on each interview
it will be a mistery forever
I still believe HR are beyond stupid in terms of tech, so they appoint a bunch of engineers and candidates, and they don't give a fuck

Can you be more specific on what the job entails?
Like what do you need to learn?
You could check out linuxacadamy, they have a bunch of stuff that might be relevant.
But another thing... You are a signal processing engineer, but you don't know how to make programs? How the fuck did that happen?
How do you make filters, tests on signals etc without programming it? I mean at least use MATLAB where you just describe the filters and it turns it into a program for you.

Wow.
