The thing about where I live is that there's no litter here at all.
Recycling is also LAW, you can't throw out glass bottles, batteries, etc and leaving something out in the woods like this can get you a pretty hefty fine.

Can't you find a flex cable for the screen? Find a tear down manual and replace that cable, it should worth almost nothing on any chink parts site and you don't have to care about fucking up the swivel part.
