hey /g/, what causes a Ram Error (Intel 3 beep code) when the RAM is perfectly fine? (tested in another computer and it works perfectly fine)
could it be a short? both computers have the exact same motherboard and processor aswell, it worked fine in my last case but I took a old computer case and re painted it and it worked fine in the old case, but in the new case it just beeps 3 times then shuts down, I tested it outside the case and worked fine

genuinely curious what the fuck is happening and why for future builds/customers aswell
Motherboard is fucked. Return it.

it's old (Intel DH67GD)
Dust in ram slot or anything else related to contact points in that slot. Did you tried to use alcohol on ram stick before inserting it? Help sometimes.
Ram cancer

yes I did do that, thank you for suggesting it though, it works perfectly fine outside the case, as soon as I screw it down in the case it just beeps, ram is only a year or so old

stand offs?
Does it have little posts the board sits on?

yes , a bunch of these I believe they are brass,

Well, you can test if it shorting by testing only on standoffs without screws or try to find where motherboard is contacting case elsewhere (on that backplate section maybe?).

would just putting a bunch of electrical tape on the standoffs and anywhere the motherboard could touch be effective at all? the case is a antec p160 aswell although I painted it with matte black (sanded it and all that, took a few weeks to get it to look good) could the paint or the fact I sanded off its original paint be a factor in this? I used Rust-Oleum spray paint

Don't know for sure. Also, are your psu mounted inside case when you testing this? Lastly does every dimm slot isn't working (i.e. your tested only one/two or all four) or all? You can check if is grounded properly with the help of multimeter.
You aren't using washers when screwing your motherboard, right?

I do have my PSU mounted inside my case, and I tested all 4 Dimms and each one doesn't work inside the case, and I'm not using washers
