There are programming jobs in a lot of places.
You can get a programming job without living in a meme city like San Francisco or Seattle.
IT companies can be anywhere, all they need are chairs, desks, and computers.

Yah but then you live in the Midwest.
I'm getting paid 60k euros a year before tax and that's very well paid already.
How the fuck do you guys get 100k a year, am I missing something?
Are your living expenses that high?
The difference USD <> EUR isn't that high.

It depends on where you live, like a lot. Arizona and California are right next to each other, but they have a huge difference in cost of living. $100k is a ton of money in like Phoenix, but it's barely above average in like San Francisco.

100k is actually below average in SF.
OP, the goal is to work my way up in the bay area and then move somewhere cheaper once I have done all my career climbing. I'm about 2 years from moving (IT infrastructure engineer)

I just googled it, you're right. Average household income is like $104k in SF.
