Should I switch to LineageOS without GApps in order to escape the botnet?
What do you think, /g/?
No, the baseband would still be running nonfree software
I switched to lineageos from my old cyanogen and this shit is so fast and stable.

If you use it with a SIM card/cell connection then you're still fucked, OP.

but it's same codebase made from same people, only difference between LOS and CM is just name

I do this, but I miss having the opportunity to use navigation. Does anyone know of a maps application that doesn't rely on GSF?
I guess I could give MicroG a shot.
Switch immediately, OP. It's the best android ROM i've ever used. What device do you have?

I don't know what GSF is but Here works offline even better than GMaps (you have to dowload the maps locally)

Can't do live navigation tho
>>59904981
oh, and GSF is Google Services Framework.
I'm experimenting with MicroG now

What is live navigation? I use it while driving just like i used Gmaps, the voice tells me what to do and i see myself moving on the map in real time
Does tingle work on lineage or does it fail complaining about deodexed stuff?

Really? with Osmand? When it tries to find my location it is unable to, which makes sense since i didnt flash GAPPS.
Either you have GSF on your phone or you're using an application i haven't tried yet.

Osmand?? I use Here, and i don't have GSF enabled
I use Lineage without GApps. LG G3, works nice.
You will need F-Droid, APKPure and Aptoide. Only some apps and games refuse to run without GApps.

We drove whole Florida with OSMAnd~ on our holiday and the only problem was lack of good TTS (You can install Google one though, it works without Gapps).
