Good question, and I don't have an straight answer. I guess it's because of my autism, but I don't like the way Chrome manages memory. Happens with Chrome-based applications like Spotify and Visual Studio Code too.

Edge actually might be the one, it'll use more overall however some of that is already loaded into memory by windows so total system usage might be lower.

it would also depend heavily on what sites you have loaded and how edge handles them

Chrome sandboxes a lot of data for security, that's one of the reasons why it's such a memory hog.
