hello /g/uys,
You could recommend the best linux distro for programming tasks? I am currently using ubuntu and it works fine but I want to try out new distros.
Thanks.

Install Gentoo.

Can you explain why? All people spam this everywhere and I don't know if it's a meme or the distro is actually good.

There is no super productive linux distro for programming, if ubuntu is working fine there is no reason to use another distro.
You would be more productive writing code with ubuntu rather than wasting time installing something else just so you can get a different logo with screenfetch

Antergos or Debian Unstable because they have more up to date software.
they're all the same
It's a meme, Gentoo is pure autism.

Arch linux makes it really easy to get bleeding edge versions of your tools, but it comes at the price of a higher learning curve.
It's definitely worth trying, but don't let anyone meme you into sticking with it if you don't like it.

This. Sound advice.
