LTS is a lie.
it's just for the small core repo. (~2k packages)
do
$ ubuntu-support-status

and see how many packages just have the usual 9 months support,
so you should have upgraded to 16.10 months ago and keep upgrading within the support period.

you should never fall for LTSEnablementStacks and stay at 14.04.1 if you want actual long term support.

close bug because fixed in newer upstream version, but their stable version is still frozen and broken.

backports/testing/unstable isn't really supported and Debian 9 takes 3 years.

I am using ubuntu in vmware and I noticed something weird with chrome or vmware.

Every version of ubuntu >14.04 has similar problems with chrome, chrome is not freeing memory after tab is closed, after few days of websites or several vids it will get 100% ram and cause whole system to stop, after awhile it will crash several tabs and ram gets lower, but it require restart to get free more ram.

I have not seen to many open tickets about it on ubuntu so I guess its vmware tools thing.

Reading the patch notes it has almost nothing of note over the previous version, and I didn't use the previous version. Plus my hardware does it's best in Windows 10 Creators Update with game mode and dx12 :D

You can
do-release-upgrade -d
in terminal. Just edit /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades to
Prompt=normal
before running if you're on LTS. Also read the notes in that file to understand why you might have to run the release upgrader twice.

I adopted a rule of this IT guy I know: only install an LTS if it reached .3 release.

I broke this rule with 16.04, though.
I installed .1, but it was shit (problems with the graphics) until I got the rolling kernel update.
