>one day decide to give Linux a try
>go with Manjaro
>everything is awesome, learning some command line stuff and even things about my computer itself
>I like poker, I play it often
>usually on PokerStars
>realize there's no PokerStars for Linux (lets not mention wine, not working)
>it's okay, I can just dual boot windows 7
>install it
>start seeing problems
>some bullshit about not having permission to delete a directory
>not even in "administrator" mode
>even try the inferior cmd
>"Access denied"
>Google the shit
>"download this program"
Jesus, was Windows always this shitty? I didn't realize this before
What did you do to me /g/?
>>59853372
You really need to stop blowing ass at basic system administration, not to mention googling. If you're desperate, just mount the Windows drive under any Linux box with the NTFS FUSE shit and delete the directory from there, since it doesn't respect permissions.
>>59853372
You can politely ask for help instead of trying to start a flame war over it.
online poker would be the reason I would use Windows
lucky for me, I live in the land of the free and my government protects me from playing 5 dollar rebuys with my own money
so I get to use linux
>>59853372
>Falling for the poker meme
End it senpai. You sound like a normie 40 year old who lost touch with his kids after his divorce.
>>59853873
not OP, i fell for the online poker meme back in 2004 when it was real. you could make money if you tried. nowadays you got russian jews playing mathematically perfect even in the .01/.02 limits, grinding like 50 tables at a time with bots and shit...
it used to be a legit goldmine, I made almost 40,000 dollars over a few years just playing for fun before the whole thing imploded in the USA
>>59853982
Well at least at pokerstars these bots are banned. But ye there are a lot more bots
>>59854041
>"these bots are banned"
just like crime is banned in society
wherever russians go, they hack
>>59854065
Only the good bots, bots that play GTO are banned quite fast.
But still, a lot of bots aren't and depending on their strats those can probably kill any player in no time.
>>59854135
>>59854041
>>59854065
even if they could get rid of bots, the games are tougher
you used to be able to beat 1/2 nl openshoving fucking AA
i still play live poker (live 30 minutes from indian casino) and I honestly can't beat .10/.25 online anymore because 3rd world gto grinders make it impossible
doesn't matter... last time I played online poker in USA was like 3 years ago and it took me 7 months (!) to withdraw 700 dollars
had to send in copy of my license and shit, and had to get money Western Unioned from Malaysia... with explicit instructions to not mention anything about poker or gambling if they asked
and 11 pct withdrawal fees (this was doylesroom, not sure if still around)
fuck man. it used to be sooooo good, you youngsters have no idea what you missed out on
>>59854199
There are still opportunities, some people will always say "it was so good back then" or "I wished I lived around that time, then I would be succesfull". It seems like people don't realize that over 10 years people will be saying that about now. There are enough things to exploit, even in online poker.
>>59853372
Use playonlinux on manjaro. It administrates your wine versions and also has a direct install of some windoze software. Specifically pokerstars client. Works out of the box like a charm.
>>59853372
>Jesus, was Windows always this shitty?
Yes. File locks happen here and there. I keep ProcessExplorer running in tray to srto them occasionally.
>>59854135
>Only the good bots
what do the good bots do? deliberately let you win? do they paste a card to their foreheads with peanut butter to make you laugh?
>>59853372
>I like poker, I play it often
>usually on PokerStars
What a loser.
>>59853372
windows is only good for gaymes and nothing else
t. gaymer
>>59853372
You need to "take ownership". Alternatively defensterate your computer.
>>59856571
It actually worked for a while, even though the PokerStars version was old, but suddenly it didn't, tried to ins it again from playonlinux like 3 times and it kept failing, I don't remember the error though
>>59856907
Ugh, I meant when I'm at home
>>59856918
