>>
>>59840960
Bootloop is what happens either when you fuck up the phone through flashing a ROM badly on your own, or due to hardware issues.
In this case, the phones overheat and permanently damage it.
Some people have luck, but others have gone already through three LG G4s.

And about 5.7 phones, well, there's the Galaxy S8 if you can afford it.
Otherwise you can look up the Huawei Mate 9, Honor 8 Pro, Meizu Pro 6 Plus, Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe, or the Mi Note 2.

I live with my parents, because the uni I go to is in my own city. Most people who come from outside live in student accomodation, around 100 euros / month, a lot rent places with roommates too. An alright place will run you 300 euros / month. With roommates you can pay 100 or 150 or so.
Food isn't too expensive. You can eat out in town for 5 euros/day, or less if you cook at home.
>>59841186

Slightly worse build quality (although it does have full metal frame, when 4x is plastic on top and bottom)

Need some help with cracking wifi
Phone seems to be compatible with bcmon Samsung gt-n7000 Note

I could not do a proper root as volume up button is fucked. Power button too, partially

I've followed these steps https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-hack-wi-fi-bcmom-t3381431

I've use kingroot app
the bcmon app opens notifying if I want to install firmware tools, if I click yes or no it closes the app
The folder is created in the specfied location though

The 3 scripts, initiatly were on sdcard but then moved them to Root, yet I still get this error.

help please, I'm running out of internet

So I got my LeEco Cool 1 Dual about 2 and a half weeks ago for $155. I lent it to my mom who was going on a vacation to Dubai and she just returned with the phone. She really liked its camera and audio that she wants to keep the phone and offers to refund me the money. I'm okay with it since I've just received the phone anyway but what do I buy next? I was thinking of buying the same phone but its probably be better to buy a different phone. With a SD card or without one but atleast 32gb storage.

Less than $165
I don't need B20
Decent/acceptable camera in artificial or low light
Good processor, probably for gayms and ppsspp/dolphin emulation
Passable audio for 3.5mm with Viper4android support

Am I stuck with Zuk Z2 or is there a great alternative? Please no Doogee. Or should I ramp it up and buy a le max 2? Or wait for Mi5C to go below $170? Will Mi5S get a lower price after the release of Mi6?

No. It'll protect against dust and fresh water up to one meter for 30 minutes or something. This doesn't apply to steam (which will be present when you take a shower). You might be fine but steam can get inside a phone easier than regular temperature water so I wouldn't risk it

I tried using H+ for a day on my G3 with a broken home button to see what's like and found the speeds to be as quick as LTE.
It's just slightly longer when loading like a 1 second difference.

My Nexus 6 still performs ok but battery issues have seriously eroded my confidence in it. Even after resets, clearing the cache, etc., it can be at 60+% and then suddenly shut off.

I anecdotally hear a lot of people complaining about flaky batteries, including iPhone users.

This is a problem with older phones.

Right way is to root it and than make system partition on microsd card and use link2sd to move system apps there.

Not entirely sure what the other anon is talking about.

The Xperia XZs has some dram built into the sensor, but it doesn't affect the low-light capabilities of the camera.

It just improves continuous shooting performance, and acts as a buffer for slow motion video (ZXs can shoot 720p @ 960fps).

poorfag here,
Should I buy the Redmi Note 2 unlocked so I can use it here in America on Cricket?
I did the usual research on gsmarena and phonearena and the specs look okay for what I want to be spending. I also looked it up on willmyphonework and it goes up to 3g with the FDD TDD LTE Model (whatever that means) and i'm OK with that too. Also, it's root-capable.
Is there anyone who has or has had this phone that can give me their opinion on it? Should I spend my money on this chink phone or would I be better off going for something else...?
Another phone I was looking at was an old Galaxy S4 or S5, if there really is no other option, just cause I know they are both root-capable and dependable.
>>
>>59859387
Addition:
I'm willing to spend at most 200$ on a phone that can do some light VR stuff (just porn and movies I guess) and allow me to flash a custom rom/root the fuck out of it to remove any bloat. Just in case I am way out of the ballpark with what I know so far and there's a totally different phone I could be purchasing.

They also have fantastic third party too, and so you get official ports of Roms.

I'm a freetard and need a phone. Dumbphones are propriacrap anyway. What should I get?

I'm in Canada and I'm thinking of going with Koodo for the carrier.

I am willing to spend up to $500 CAD but don't need fancy features and probably something around $200 CAD would be more reasonable for me.

One thing that annoys me is that a lot of phones are released once and then forgotten about and are never updated and so are insecure and buggy.

Let's assume the S8 and S8+ do gangbusters. If Samsung wishes to bring over the 6GB RAM/128GB version internationally, it would probably come closer to when Note 8 and iPhone 8/10th anniversary comes out. Depends on how long you want to wait.

So I'm with Sprint, live in the US, and I've been leasing the S7 long enough that I can now upgrade. One problem. While the S8 is really new and cool and exciting and I want it the most by far, the upgrade would make it cost more each month than the S7. I would be able to upgrade to an S9 in a year, which may then be cheaper than before.

But then there's the G6.

Still has HDR. Still ultra wide QHD+. Probably better battery life than the S8. Worse display, probably worse cameras (maybe even versus S7), not even sure it's stronger than the S7. Does have USB-C and wireless charging like the S8. Same shitty on board storage size as the S7, but supports insanely big SD card storage, up to 2TB versus the paltry 256 GB supported by the S8. Much better location for the fingerprint scanner versus the S8. Both are water resistant.

The thing with the G6 is that Sprint has a special deal for it where they pay for half of the phone. It's a little less than half as expensive per month than the S8 would be. But I also don't know for sure if it's even much better than the S7. It will definitely fall behind fast, and if Sprint doesn't come up with an upgrade deal for holders of the G6 next year, then I'm probably stuck with what will essentially be a crap phone at that point until the Galaxy S10, LG G8, and whatever other phones drop in 2019. So if I get a G6, I'm taking a dice roll where if I lose the bet, I'm stuck with a garbage phone for the entirety of 2018, when every phone is going to be like the S8 screen-wise, and probably 4K, and Bixby will probably be far, ''far'' better than Google Assistant and Siri at that point.

Before April 6, the G6 came with a '''FUCKIN' FREE 43 INCH SMART TV''', and I hate myself for missing that boat. If I'd known about the 50% off deal at that point, it would have been a huge fucking no-brainer.

(Continued next post.)

Now, while the TV deal is over, as they ran out of TVs, they do still have Google Assistants to give away. It seems cool, but I don't know exactly what it does, so I'm not sure if it's worth it or not.

With the S8, you get something that's probably around the same value, which is the new model of Gear VR headset with a controller. Also a very cool thing, though I am not sure how useful, since I don't think there's a lot of real VR gaming going on.

IDK, anon, what should I do? Do you think it's likely Sprint will have an offer for me next year that will afford me an upgrade to an Infinity Display type phone at that point? Do you think that I should just suck it up and take that chance? Or should I just jump on that Samsung train and suck it up with regard to missing those big savings?

Also, bonus question, is there any way to use Google Assistant without giving it every fucking permission in the book? I don't think I like the idea of giving anything but my browser the browser history permission.

- last year's spec
- LG phone was known for bootloop issue

Google Pixel XL
pros:
- vanilla android experience without unnecessary bloatware
- god-tier camera even without OIS

cons:
- giant bezel on the top and the bottom
- high price

S8 isn't even that much more expensive than G6 unless you opt for an S8+.

I honestly think that if it's a choice between any of the current flagships without any discounts, the S8 is absolutely the obvious choice.

The problem for me is that the G6 is pretty much half the price, but with the possibility of being stuck with a 2016.5 tier phone until 2019.

Someone told me the moto g5 was the one I want to buy. But I just want to make sure

>USA
>Metro PCS
>Best possible deal I can get
>$200-220
>Size doesn't matter. All I really use it for is to play GBA emulator games, so maybe aslong as it lasts 5+ hours i'll be good.
>>
Should I get the S7 or the S7 Edge? Is the edge any good or is it just a gimmick. If I get the normal S7 can I actually get a screen protector that lies flat over the whole screen? My note 4 screen protectors don't stick to the very outer edge of the screen and it's really annoying.
>>
>>59869383
Why not get an S8? It's so much better. Or a G6. G6 is newer and better for the same price or slightly more.
>>
Buying Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X in a few days. Should I?
Gonna use it on VIP MK and Lycamobile.VIP MK is LTE band 3 and 20, not sure about Lyca. Just need a phone to get me through the day.
>>
>>59869409
Because they just had a price drop. I'd also like to keep with micro usb
>>
>>59869494
Oh, really? I can't ditch Micro-USB soon enough, personally. The damned things always break. Need that sturdier type-C. But I can also see the appeal of sticking with something you already probably have a whole bunch of cables for, too.
>>
Are refurbished phones a scam? Im thinking of gettin the S7
>>
>>59869419
Get a Redmi Note 4 Global, it's the same phone as the 4X but has more LTE bands (inc. B20)
>>
>>59869552
Yeah I just figure that I use my micro SD card for anything I need to transfer so I'm not too worried about that. Plus the S7 has wireless charging so I probably wouldnt need the faster charging rate from the USB c. I can totally see why were all switching over to it though. It makes sense. It's an all around better cable for sure. But everyone I know still uses micro USB si that's nice. I used to be the only iPhone user and it sucked if I forgot my charger.

Also what's keeping me with wanting the S7 (and therefor micro USB) is that it comes in Rose Gold. If there were other phones that came in that color besides iPhone I would consider getting those.
>>
What has the S8 improved on vs the S7?
>>
>>59869587
One of the reasons I really want an S8 is that sexy-ass orchid gray color. Having an awesome color is definitely nice.

The two things that actually irk me the most about the G6 are that there are only two choices of color, and that fucking ugly bottom bezel that's bigger than the top bezel. Could they SERIOUSLY not cut that down just a bit more? The asymmetry is horrendous to me.

>>59869666
Significantly better processor that's also more energy efficient, bezels cut down to almost non-existence so the phone looks amazing, the best screen on any phone on the market, improved camera software for things like more realistic color. Edge Display upgraded to Infinity Display, which means it's up to 18.5:9 from 16:9 mostly by removing bezel, and there is almost literally no side bezel. Great ergonomic form factor. Has a very promising new AI with a dedicated button so you can just press the button and tell your phone to do what you want it to do. Uses USB-C now instead of micro-USB. Better front facing camera, can unlock your phone with new methods as well, like iris scanning and facial recognition. Comes with $100 earbuds. Presumably the water resistance actually works as intended this time around, too. Finally ditched that pathetic 32 GB capacity for 64 GB. Still has a physical home button, but it's invisible now. Cool as shit.

I think that about covers it. Tons of improvements. The only thing that sucks is that it's high priced, but not as high as people thought it might climb.

their homes are usually so small that a proper laptop would take up too much space

Also, lots of brothers and sisters would fuck those up. A phone can be easily hid from them if you keep it on you at all times.

Also, status because it's easier to show off.

Just ordered a OP 3T Gunmetal, also bought the sandstone case. So cheap for the specs! Hype as fuck, gonna be a gud upgrade from my S5.

Anyone else got the sandstone case?

Hi, I want a new phone.
I got the oneplus one three years ago, but the screen broke and the mic is not working anymore.
Would you recommend the oneplus 3t?
>>
>>59869811
Thanks for the S8 rundown mate. It looks a bit odd with the new formfactor though, very tall and slim in a way. Not sure how manlet hands will handle it.

The Snapdragon variant has excellent rom support, it's the MTK one which has issues. Check carefully which soc it has before purchasing one.

am I allowed to ask this here? What brands do you guys recommend for cases? the only one I know by name is otterbox and I don't even know if they're a meme brand or not.

Okay so I have the Pixel XL, and I'm currently on the LG G6. I can't speak for the s8.

Pixel XL is hands down the best Android phone I've ever used. Performance is smooth and fluid. Battery is just fine for a days use if you're a normal user. The camera is really, really good. Even all my friends with iPhones constantly complimented the pictures it took. The speaker on the Pixel is passable but it's not the best by a long shot. I got mine off Craigslist for 650 from some Chad that had it for a week and was going back to iOS.

The LG G6 is the first LG I've ever used. Always veered away from them because of the bootloops, but I'm glad I picked this up a few days ago. So far what I can tell you from three days use: the camera is good, the wide angle lens is a meme though. I think the quality is shit. Battery life has surprisingly been above average for me. I work security so I'm constantly on my phone and I only had to throw it on the charger for like twenty minutes at the end of the day (12 hour shifts). Performance has also surprisingly been good especially with the 821. I haven't noticed and lag, or stutters at all. The display, to me, isn't as nice as the Pixel XL's.. but it's a great display, and the no bezels thing really is beautiful in hand. I've had a few people asking what phone it was strictly because of the smaller bezels. It also has a spot for a microSD if you're into that. The finger print scanner is fast, it's also the power button. Usually use double tap on screen to wake it. The speaker is pretty loud and decent quality. Overall I think LG did a great fucking job with this. Let's just hope no future (((bootloops)))

I have dumb idea using a Nexus 5x but to do it I need a better mic. Does it work to plug in a compatible mic in the audio jack and it just werks? Is there even such a thing as a compatible mic for an android device?
>>
>>59871321
Had an Otterbox for me S4 and it was great but normally very expensive.

Now I just look for what kind of case I need and look at reviews on sites like amazon.
>>
I know this is a long shot, but any Lumia 950 users here?
>>
I want to replace my old Nexus 5. But I'd like to get something cheaper this time.
Around €200

I care about
- battery life
- gps
- smooth scrolling when browsing the internet
- being on the latest updates
- ~5 inch 1k screen

Don't care a rats ass about gaymes performance or camera.

>LG G4 I paid big bucks for in July 2015 starts the bootloop back in January, didn't even last 2 years
>Go back to using my Galaxy S2x (T989d) which I bought in June 2012, first smartphone
>Slow af on modern websites but dat tiny 4.5" screen, dat feeling of slipping it into your pocket and not even knowing it's there, dat one-handed use, all so intoxicating

I am going to replace it soon because no modern apps fucking work and ICS has all kinds of unpatched vulnerabilities, but fuck the past was comfy. The past two months have really made me forget how much I missed this phone. Is there anything even remotely like this nowadays?

Do all of you people have giant hands or what
I'm still on a 4" screen and every time I've gone into a store even 5" are on the extremely small side of what they sell anymore and they're miserable to use one handed, especially plus versions

Why do I get the feeling that this thing will not see a single OS update ever?

Get the X Compact if you want Android, and the SE if you want iOS. These are quite literally your only options for a good, small phone.

Well even the fact that it launched with 6.0 marshmallow in 2017 tells you something. It'll probably get Nougat and that'll be it. But updates aside, it's actually quite a nice phone according to the reviews.
