THANK YOU BASED INTEL

AYYMD IS FINISHED & BANKRUPT

>need kabylake to support that sweet sweet DRM
T-Thanks intel
>>
>>59840539
pretty retarded considering several of the Skylake CPUs have SGX support as well, but they're still locking it to Kabylake because fuck consumers.
>>
Holy shit, look at all that crap you need to run products you actually bought. No thanks.

DRM has gotten to the point where you're pretty much retarded if you don't pirate your 4K videos instead of buying them.

/thread

>you need a kaby lake cpu or Pascal GPU
This is such fucking bullshit I can't stand it
My 980ti had displayport 1.2 and HDCP support. It fits the bill for 4k UHD drm standards but Nvidia and Intel are kikes. Fuck this bullshit.

Why are you on /g/?
>>
>>59840613
too bad you can't
at least not if you want anything close to the same bitrate and quality.

The only 4k encodes available are from netflix or amazon that are streamed at ~15-25mbps (low bitrate for 4k). Or they're screen capped from a 4k bluray player, which is again, shit quality since you're using a hardware encoder on the fly to screen cap it.

TLDR; there currently exists no way to pirate a 4k movie in the same quality as a UHD bluray.
>>
>>59840664
any mid range GPU from 2011 can run 4k video just fine.
>>
>>59840664
Nevermind I just looked it up I don't have HDCP 2.2 which is only in displayport 1.3 or higher

Need to pay for hardware backdoor system to watch propaganda movie, good goy

Also HDMI 2.0a

GTX 980 Ti does not have HDCP 2.2 support or PlayReady 3.0 support, heck it doesn't even support HEVC Main10/Main12 hardware decoding like Pascal
>>
>>59840695
>muh bitrate
it's still UHD 4k
>>
>>59840806
Fuck off, you can generally get a better looking encode by upscaling a 1080p remux since it's at least full bitrate.

What the fuck is the point of UHD bluray at all if you don't give a fuck how it looks?

Might as well just stream everything on youtube and netflix.
>>
>>59840806
No

You don't know what you're talking about
>>
>>59840902

>implying
>>
>>59841045
You're the only one implying anything, and you seem to be implying that resolution is superior to bitrate which just makes you look like a complete and utter moron.

If that's your prerogative, enjoy.
>>
>thank you intel for the DRM
lmao, kys
>>
>>59841067
Especially with H.265, you don't need more than the space of a standard BD-rom to store good looking 4K video.

"Enjoy your placebo effect, goy. We'll enjoy the shekels."
>>
>>59841150
Fantastic beasts and where to find them uses a 66GB dual layer Bluray disc with HEVC/x265 encoding.

And it's only a ~2 hour film, get something like LoTR extended edition and you'd be lucky to fit it on anything besides a 100GB disc.
>>
>>59841224
That's overkill. Hollywood uses bitrates that are far higher than necessary. Psychovisually speaking, they could probably halve that bitrate without much of a difference. Not to mention they often load up the disc with PCM audio, bonus features, ads, and other wasted space.
>>
>>59841272
It's fairly rare for PCM, though it's sill used for some releases.

In this case for Fantastic Beasts it's all Dolby (Atmos, DTS-5.1 and DD5.1 for foreign language audio).

Also, while you can certainly reduce the bitrate a fair amount, you can't halve it and NOT notice a difference. It will be fine for most people, but anyone who actually works with editing high bitrate videos often will see the compression artifacts by that point.

It's a situation where the people who actually know what they're looking for can easily spot the differences, whereas a normie just wanting to watch a movie wouldn't even care to notice.
>>
>>59840536
Ok so just buy an Xbox Scorpio then?

Seems like the cheapest option
