I'd rather go back to the Windows 10 botnet.

No operative system is to blame for your shitty screen.
>>
>I'd rather go back to the Windows 10 botnet.
He who would trade liberty for some temporary screen real estate, deserves neither liberty nor screen real estate.
>>
>>59829436
Comparison stands valid for every res and aspect ratio on the market.
GNOME shell design is completely retarded when it comes to screen real estate.
>>
>>59829482
>liberty

What liberty are you talking about dumb fuck? Now that Unity is gone, Red Hat owns all the important components of your desktop.

Nice liberty you got there, your freetard desktop it's in hands of one company.

>He who would trade liberty for some temporary screen real estate, deserves neither liberty nor screen real estate.
He who would trade a chance to bash GNOME for some temporary moral high ground deserves neither to bash GNOME nor the moral high ground.

Same result with every software that's more complex than a note taking app.

???

You seem to be under the false impression that extensions are anything different than settings. Extensions are great because you don't have to have a shitload of bloat in your DE if you don't want/need it. It's like having settings modules, rather than having a bloated, broken, clusterfuck
of settings like you'd find in KDE.
>>
>>59830268
That mindset is why Gnome doesn't have things like a proper file picker and scroll speed settings.
>>
>>59829398
OP, all hope is not lost. Here are some alternatives to check out if Unity really does completely kick the bucket:

1. https://budgie-remix.org/ (Hey, like Unity, it's also a huge improvement on GNOME3)

2. http://www.webupd8.org/2017/02/alternative-global-menu-for-mate-and.html (Global menus for GTK2-based DEs)

3. http://blog.broulik.de/2016/10/global-menus-returning/ (Global menus for KDE 5 / Plasma)

4. http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2017/03/kde-latte-dock-replace-plasma-panel (Sweet looking launcher / dock for KDE)

5. https://mauilinux.org/ (A really nice and streamlined Ubuntu-based KDE distro, honestly much better than Kubuntu and KDE Neon)

6. https://www.bunsenlabs.org/ (Resurrection of the smooth and simple CrunchBang distro, based on Debian with some Ubuntu additions in their repos)

7. https://solydxk.com/ (Beautifully stable rolling-release debian-based distro that specializes in Xfce and KDE)
