>pick a security question
Why do web sites still use this insecure method?
>>59822427
Cause it's good
>>59822427
This is generally used in conjunction with another factor of authentication (such as an email address) so that if your first method of authentication (email) is breached, there's still another layer to get through.
Any site that uses secret questions with no other form of authentication should be shut down.
>use 256-charcater long password consisting of random Unicode characters
>"what's your mom's name?"
>mary
>get hacked

This bullshit right here. The security questions aren't secure at all. You can often only choose between preset ones like "what's your mom's maiden's name" "what was the name of your first pet" which everyone can find out if they know you well enough or dig deep enough. Or it's bullshit that constantly changes so that if you'd actually need it 2 years from now you can't answer it anymore. "what is your favorite song" "what is your favorite movie"
Security questions are the worst.
security question is just another password you need to remember.
Just pick a random question and answer all of them with a single random word.
example:
What is you highschool mascot - Lasercat
What is your oldest neice name - lasercat
Who was your favorite childhood teacher - lasercat

Simply answer them with long random character sequences, anon.

>actually putting in real answers to those and not just using another separate password for any of those questions
I bet you don't even keep a physical record of all your passwords and security answer

thanks this is a lot easier. redid my banking with lasercat
