Do nothing. Start from scratch or stick with what you've got. No way it's worth investing in heavily overclocking a 2600k that you'd have to buy at an inflated price (due to scarcity) to stick in a 5+ year old motherboard that, by the looks of it, has cheap VRMs and probably can't get you a great overclock anyway.

This is where you learn you fucked up by not spending $20 more for the K and just build another computer.

You can probably sell the CPU, not sure how much interest there will be in it since it's locked, but it'd eventually sell. I wouldn't bank on selling the motherboard for much though.

Either way, it's a lot of legwork to get something that won't be much better than what you've got. Heavily overclocked 2600k's still beat out overclocked i5 7600k in multithreaded applications, but not by as much as you'd think, and again, I'm not sure how great your motherboard will be for overclocking or how great the eventual 2600k/2700k will be in terms of its overclocking potential.

i thougt non-k intel cpus are overclockable nontheless

Best I've got was around 104mhz something from 100mhz. But you risk introducing instability in other subsystem tho.

No kids, all sandy and ivy iX that turbo can be binned up a bit, they need more voltage and getting an undervolt without whea errors at low load is tricky

OP avoid bclk unless you want to get comfy in event viewer dialing it in. uncorrected errors can corrupt the os

Yes, if you actually listen to Gigabyte and their claim that the latest Award bios works fine with Ivy. If you go with the UEFI beta all problems go away.
