>tfw there's still no info on x390 nor whether skylake-x is worthwhile
Falling for the wait meme was a mistake

At least you aren't waiting for "vega"
>>59811120
If you're hoping Intel lowers their prices, you're going to be disappointed when a 6 core costs more than an 1800X.
Intel's E series are DOA, killed by Ryzen
>>59811410
Well it's almost certain that skylake -x wont bring anything new to the table and x390 probably will be out of my reach due to financial reasons but you can't be 100% certain without any info.
>the wait meme
there's literally no reason to upgrade if you're only 1 or 2 generations behind
>>59811494
I'm on a 2670qm so go figure.
>>59811771
literally no reason for you to upgrade
Doesn't Skylake-X top out at 10-12 cores? No competition against a 16 core Zen that's likely to run at 3.5GHz base clock.
>>59811983
Actually it'll probably do even better than the 22 core Broadwells, that top at out something like 2.5GHz, too huge a difference in clockspeed even with the lower amount of cores.
>>59811830
Try having a 2670qm and a 630m as your main machine and tell me that again. I actually have use cases that can benefit from moar coarz and any CPU that I will buy has better single core performance so there is a reason for me to upgrade.

this
this is why i'm a virgin at 34.
>>59812083
your cpu is about 66% as powerful as a top end i7
the only thing maybe holding you back is your GPU
>>59811983
I think it tops at 10 cores. I'm worried about things with 1800x tier pricing since I'm not willing to spend more. It's not even certain whether x390 will have 8 core CPUs or not but you get the point. Nobody would like to see what they bought get outperformed briefly by something that costs nearly the same.

>2600k==2670qm
I wish, the 2670qm scores around 5900 passmarks whereas the 2600 scores 8400.

If you're talking about 16 core Zens, they'll directly compete in performance with $5000+ Xeons, AMD pricing them at $1000 or even $1500 is quite normal.
These are high margin low volume CPU, I doubt people would even buy them in droves even if they were $800
