What are you downloading, fa/g/gots?
My seedbox has a better ratio, desu; this is just my desktop.

Incorrect. Most of my downloads come from Empornium.

You mean, like, illegally? Because the answer to that is "nothing at all". In fact, ever since I went <full adult> and made actual money, I started to pay for everything, because it's just so much more convenient! Need a program to edit audio files and be annoyed by Audacity's clunky GUI? BAM! Bought something that fits my needs for like 30 bucks. Keep saving the same porn by accident and need a program that finds duplicates using an efficient algorithm? BAM! Another 15 bucks and problem solved! Remember how good the original Command & Conquer soundtrack was? Ka-pow! 9 bucks and it's easily available on all of my devices; no need to manually copy it everywhere. I use torrents only for "emergencies", like whenever something I want isn't available through reasonable means - fansubbed anime would be the prime example.

Oh, please - as if you wouldn't do the same damn thing if money wasn't an issue.

I would love a way to legally aquire movie in the form of videofiles without unskippable ads, drm or a required online connection
If they can't offer me that, it's not actually more convenient

Well, that argument only holds up if you insist on actually owning the movie - which you technically never do - and are dead set on being able to watch it offline in the woods for all eternity. Where I'm standing, a combination of Netflix and the occasional rented movie on Amazon Video is *way* more convenient, especially since I'm streaming the content instead of having to manage files. Also, you technically *can* download stuff on Netflix/Amazon and watch it offline - though only on mobile devices, such as smart phones and tablets.

I regularly travel and don't have the internet connection to stream things while doing so.
I'm also not willing to compromise my devices by installing a closed source netflix or amazon client on it.
I do allow some amount of cloused source software but specifically those companies I don't trust enough to do so.

What the fucking fuck? Jail-breaking is THE biggest security risk ever and you worry about freakin' Netflix/Amazon!? Seriously? The travel/no-internet argument is mostly valid ("mostly" because of the aforementioned download-feature on streaming apps), but THAT shit I can't accept. I bet you use Google services and probably even their browser and (mobile) OS - so how the hell can you seriously argue against goddamn Netflix in terms of security/privacy? I'd really love to know!

Also, the US is not the only country in the world.

How do you regularly download unless it's from ratioless?

I don't currently own a smartphone. I watch movies and shows on my laptop while I'm on the go and use linux.
I don't have any google software installed either.
