Is there a reason I shouldn't just use a box fan instead of replacing all the worn out fans in my PC?
I've got 2 case fans and a couple fan that don't spin.
Why would I spend $30 on fans when I can pick up a box fan from good will for < $5?
Haha, silly anon, you're trying to cool down a computer not a box

Did you ever wonder why the side panel was there in the first place?
Or why computers are placed inside cases at all?
>"So you don't have to look at all the ugly messy wires and shit!"
No sweetie. No no no.
If that were the case, then why would all these 1337 gaymer kids that plague our board have cases with clear side panels?

Front and side fans are intakes most of the time desu
A shit ton of dust and wasted power. Per CFM, channeled airflow provides superior cooling compared to open, non ducted airflow.
A box fan on high power uses about 100 watts.
The cost of electricity is about 12 cents per kilowatt hour.
Suppose you use the computer for 8 hours a day, since your a neck beard faget. You will consume 800 watt hours, or .8 kilowatt hours of energy, worth 9.6 cents.
Thus, the simple payback is given by $25/$.096 = 260 days. Will case fans outlast 260 days? If you plan on keeping your PC for more than 260 days of use, buy case fans.

A box fan will bathe your PC in EM interference.
Maybe.
I'm not a programmer.

Don't worry about dust, your box fan will blow it all away. That guy doesn't know what he's talking about.
