Why isn't /g/ using the Xfce + i3-gaps master race? Ultra comfy and ultra usable.
>>
>using a window managing philosophy meant to maximize space usage
>wastes it by adding useless gaps

How to spot a pretentious poser: the screenshot. More so:

>calling software comfy

Kill yourself.

Why not just run i3 and have no desktop enviroment? What does it offer?
>>
>>59792180
Native volume, brightness, and power management, as well as xfce4-panel in the environment it was meant to be run in.
>>
>>59792269

Can literally do everything with keyboard bindings and the i3's default panel.
>>
>>59792269
How does the xfce panel cope with multi monitor setup in this case?
>>
I didn't learn lua to use some none customizable wm
>>
>>59791855
Fuck off you don't work.

No one who uses arch works.
>>
>>59791795
Because LXQT has the sanest configuration compared to any other DE.
Also, bspwm exists.
>>
>>59791795
Why would I need i3 when I have already master race DE called xfce?
>>
gaps are for dicks.
>>
>>59791829
Then what's the point of a wallpaper if the entire real estate is filled. Don't tell me you're too good for a wall too.
>>
>>59793385
duno i dont have any gaps in my dick
>>
>>59793140
xfce is a DE, i3 is a WM.

how does one go about doing this, and what are the benifits? I am interested
>>
>>59797065
You change/add the following line to make.conf and do a deep world update
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~amd64"
The benefits are way newer packages. The downsides are more frequent updates (if you hate compiling), maybe bugs in some packages (although I haven't ran into anything major and I've been running ~amd64 Gentoo for over a year).

If you're fine with stable then there's really no need to change to ~testing. If you're like me and find yourself accepting keywords for a lot of packages (ie. testing packages, firefox-52 etc) you might as well go ahead and make the switch
