There's the fact that the SJW took over the browser after they fired its creator have been making the whole project steadily worse.
Every major update almost always fucked the browser up in some new original way.
Firefox is still less awful than Chrome, but that's despite the current management of Mozilla and not because of them.

Having the idiots, who brought firefox to blink of extinction, push their drivel on the UI is just another demonstration of massive bad judgment.
It's certainly not a productive use of resources.

LISTEN TO YOURSELF
You are using logical fallacies to try and prop up your lies (specifically appeal to authority.). Learn to question researchers. Even researchers can bend data to suit their narrative.

The woman CEO rate is all due to personal choice. Less women want to give in the work to be a CEO and thus there are less females in the CEO positions. Are you willing to try and strip women of their free will and force them to be CEOs or are you going to strip men of their positions?

australis, signed addons, telemetry botnet, safe browsing lists from Google and soon a new incompatible and far less powerful addons engine

Mozilla keeps making the browser less and customizable and powerful.
But hey, at least they get to preach about social issues!
>>
>>59793467
Indeed most CEOs are chosen because of their links to other people, just like most high level jobs. This can be used to show that less women know people in high positions. Ass kissing is one of the easiest ways to get to the best jobs. This, however, doesn't mean that people who simply know a lot of investors will keep their jobs. You still need to be good at working as a CEO.

I think people who get upset about this are the type who think that extra features trump everything and don't understand the importance of good software architecture. You're shifting the goalposts and argument to wage gap. Which is real in a lot of cases. NOT ALL CASES.
> a lot of cases do exist though

From the local shop who has women working for less, to the factory divided by gender roles where women get paid less because of the job role they do.

Your lack of real world work experience is showing.

Once worked for a printing factory
>women doing stitching job
>men doing printing job
>both unskilled
>if anything, the women were much more skilled

That place paid the women less than the men. The bosses were dicks and wanted workers for nothing. They treated workers like shit. I spent a few weeks there installing hardware and it was a toxic working environment.

>>59793757
Now it really sounds like you don't understand computer security. JavaScript is not the only attack vector. The multi-process model is mainly a mitigation for when shellcode is running in the renderer process, and there are a number of ways that this can happen, including bad file format parsing or crashes triggered by malformed CSS and HTML.
>>
>>59793823
Then bug Mozilla until they add a WebExtensions API for manipulating tabs. Use ESR in the meantime if you must. You're going to take a temporary hit in UI flexibility, but it's worth it to kill XUL/XPCOM.

It's always been stupid that Firefox's interface was written in XUL. It's a language that no one actually uses on the web, so Firefox's renderer has additional complexity for no reason. Now that HTML/CSS is powerful enough to build user interfaces with, Firefox should switch to that.
>>
>>59793670
It my computer and my ram. It doesn't "belong" to some third rate website to pull in some half dozen emoji wefonts, some atrocious css , some slide show of hipsters drinking coffee all so some self important douche can jerk off about security.

Nigga you're the one that doesn't get security. If a link is suspicious, I'd use someone else's computer, or a VM that is separate from my files. Security is a process, having threat models and shit.

>but it's worth it to kill XUL/XPCOM.
I don't care about the API behind addons, I'm not an addon developer myself.
>It's always been stupid that Firefox's interface was written in XUL. It's a language that no one actually uses on the web, so Firefox's renderer has additional complexity for no reason. Now that HTML/CSS is powerful enough to build user interfaces with, Firefox should switch to that.
I think that the fact the interface of FF is rendered by the same engine that renders pages, with DOM and CSS and ability to control this from JS is a powerful feature.
>>
>>59793926
>Is this even an issue in nonshithole countries?
Generally speaking not but school district gerrymandering has resulted in segregated schools in some places like America. Needless to say, the black schools don't get as much funding as the non black schools. Apparently northern states are the worst sinners on that front.
>>
>>59793903
>It my computer and my ram. It doesn't "belong" to some third rate website
I wasn't saying it does. I just thought you sounded like the type who looks at the numbers next to processes in the task manager and concludes that the multi-process model is inefficient because Chrome's numbers add up to more that Firefox's. In reality, these numbers are almost meaningless. Pages are shared between the processes and pages from tabs you aren't using might even be swapped out. Also, memory exists to be used. If a web browser can get a performance advantage by caching things in RAM, that's good. If you need the RAM, a good program can respond to memory pressure by dropping its caches.

>If a link is suspicious, I'd use someone else's computer, or a VM that is separate from my files.
Yeah, this only works if you're the perfect arbiter of which links are """suspicious.""" Going by your posts in this thread, I'd say you're probably not. That's okay though, because no one is. Malicious code can be anywhere on the web, because of attacked sites, malicious ad networks or CDNs, or even poor user input validation allowing XSS. I don't know how you can be comfortable with the knowledge that one mistake can result in an attacker getting access to your computer at the same privilege level as your browser.

Security is a process, but you're describing a process that leans very heavily on your intuition about which websites are safe. That's not security.

>I don't care about the API behind addons, I'm not an addon developer myself.
That's shortsighted. If the API to create addons was better, more people would create addons and the existing addon developers would become more productive. Also, XPCOM pollutes the entire Firefox codebase, not just addons. It's no surprise that Firefox devs want to get rid of it. Developer satisfaction is a huge thing in open source, since you can't force people to work on code they don't like. You'd better hope XUL/XPCOM gets removed from Firefox, since if it stays, Firefox might die from stagnation instead.

>I think that the fact the interface of FF is rendered by the same engine that renders pages, with DOM and CSS and ability to control this from JS is a powerful feature.
Agreed, but XUL is retarded. Firefox would still have this strength if the interface was HTML (and I've heard Firefox devs are planning this.)

>That's shortsighted. If the API to create addons was better, more people would create addons and the existing addon developers would become more productive.
Instead, the new API made it impossible for the developer of tab groups to continue. Very productive indeed.
>>
>>59794133
The new API is never going to fit every possible use-case in the first release, but if you don't bite the bullet and switch, you'll be stuck with shit forever. Mozilla don't have the resources to maintain two extension APIs and no one wants to work on the shit one.
>>
>>59794188
New API would be OK as long as it provided the same functionality, but apparently it doesn't.

>There's been a bug going back to early 2002 about properly integrating Mozilla with KDE
>That bug, Mozilla Bug 140751, has been open for the past twelve years
>A Phoronix reader pointed out this comment yesterday with trying to spearhead new efforts to improve the KDE + Firefox integration and getting Firefox to use KDE's Dolphin file manager.
>Justin Dolske of Mozilla was quick to remind everyone that while there's many KDE Linux users, overall the number is very small.
>Richard Newman of Mozilla also argued, "Mozilla isn't a company that's trying to win the market. It's a community that's trying to change the world.

>The woman CEO rate is all due to personal choice. Less women want to give in the work to be a CEO and thus there are less females in the CEO positions. Are you willing to try and strip women of their free will and force them to be CEOs or are you going to strip men of their positions?
Free will, as an absolute determinant of human behavior, is a myth. Everything we do is influenced by our upbringing and the culture we live in. And if you're going to use the "personal choice" meme to argue that women being underrepresented as CEOs isn't a problem, then you'll ALSO have to agree that men dying on the job isn't a problem either, because men made the PERSONAL CHOICE to work on those dangerous jobs. Sure, they only took on those jobs because that's the only way they could make enough money to survive, but it's still their personal choice and trying to change things means you're denying their agency which makes you literally worse than Hitler.

>>59793587
>If the wage gap was real, then why aren't companies entirely filled up with women as companies can save fuck tonnes of money.
The whole reason some employers pay women less in the first place is because they think women are less productive workers than men. They set wages in proportion to the perceived productivity of workers. So from their perspective, hiring women wouldn't actually be saving money, they'd just be having more employees, but the total wages paid, and total productivity, would be about the same.

Absolute, true equality can never exist 100%, but that doesn't mean we should make no effort to move in that direction. It's equivalent to saying "well, if some diseases are incurable, what's the point of having doctors?".
