Have you ever tried to write a sophisticated user interface?
HTML and CSS is the best thing we have for that.
And if backend performance is a concern, you can write the critical parts of your application as a V8 plugin in C++, then call that from the JS part.

There are a lot of things that I hate about Electron and JS in general but it's a really convenient platform.
