On a scale from 0 to 10, how good do you rate your programming ability to be?
0 = never touched code in life
8 = qualified to work at google
9 = carmack
10 = archangel level, breaker of chains, mother of dragons

I've only ever made shitty games in C, so maybe a -12.
>>59786249
does that delet system16?
>>59786302
programming games is pretty good dude, you're probably around a 4 or 5 to be honest
1-2
have written scripts and some simple websites, not much else
>>59786324
No, if you compile it correctly (gcc -m32 <filename.c>on Loonix), it printsgoto considered harmful
Hello, world!
The trick is to find out how, because that string isn't contained in the program at all (see pic).
>>59786249
why come into threads like this to belittle others while posting dumb, over complicated code to make yourself seem smarter?

because I just wrote the coolest encryption/decryption method and just wanted to show all my friends on here it.

Yeah, no.
I'm a 6, but a god tier googler.
Finishing up a year of Java courses. Probably 3-4?

8.0-8.5
HFT systems architect.
I'm not some universal programming genius who knows everything about everything, but I'm able to make competitive systems in a field full of jewgle-tier people.
I could probably figure out how to manipulate existing code fairly quickly. It would take be forever to do something from scratch. I can only put my mind into work mode or creative mode; unless someone sets a goal for me, I won't know what to code or unless someone codes for me, I won't know what to create.
So a 3?
5/10
Nothing too sophisticated, but I am actually writing small, proper applications that are are useful and well received in the enterprise world, and get lots of wear and tear in production environments.
I really only do this part time (thank god), and only do reports with SQL (this can actually be quite tricky) with a bit of javascript, and finance/trading stuff with C# (mainly ninjatrader)
Never did useless stuff like "sort strings, find prime numbers, fizzbuzz" or other super clever algorithms, always worked on practical stuff where you never need anything like that. I guess you could call me a spackle coder. Not Carmack, but Taylor.
I don't really know how i ended here after getting my
business administration
masters degree.

As a sysadmin I don't need real programming. Only thing I do is write bash scripts and customise some code for custom Linux kernels.
i think I may be 3 or 4
11 = Wizard Class
12 = I am Gentoo

you're clueless
>>59785841
7. I'm probably not quite Google-tier yet. But I'm close. I work in the technology division for a fortune 50 company and find that my coding skills are far superior compared to many other people who get paid far more than me.

I've only used python to automate math jobs. So, 0.1?
Probably like a 3.5, im technically an IT guy.

Learn haskell
Merge the math concept together with the language and you're golden

where the tfw fell for 64gb meme thread?
>>59785841
Idk, 5 or 6? I graduated on topic of programming language comparison and am doing my master's degree now, but I do admittedly lack more real world experience..
About a 4 but I might be overestimating my skill.
I can make "Hello World" in python
am I an 8 yet?
>>59785841
9
I wrote my own 3d game engine, compiler, some linux utilites and programs such including a window manager for x11. Too bad I am not a marketer, i would make a lot more of moneys.
>>59785841
That's a really big jump between 8 and 9
>>59785841
8 because google's hiring committee accepted me.

>>59788859
Actually html and css aren't programming languages. You're a 0.
>>59789917
Does this count? http://jsfiddle.net/r9jc3caj/2/
Compared to my current peers, I'm a 10. Sucks being the smartest guy in the place. I need a new job
>>59790057
considering it doesn't work properly, no.
>>59788562
Its not a linear scale
