So Volta will only release in 2018.
So what will nvidia do once Vega drops?
>>59780173
Release another Titan X
>what will nvidia do
Absolutely nothing. Vega might finally reach 1070 levels but that's about it.
Maybe nvidia might have to cut 1070 prices a bit but depending how clever they market GSync and their other memes not even that.

I don't give a shit about amd "performance" at this point. Until they fix their shitty drivers and especially OGL, it's a no buy. I only owned a 9700pro because FX was that bad.

Nothing. Vega barely beats stock 1080 in the most shilled and AMD favoring game there is. It will probably go even or slightly behind in majority of games which still are dx11 or use Nvidia gameworks. Then include your typical AMD bullshit like 12 months of waiting for good drivers, 3 months of waiting till non-ref cards hits shelves, 9 months of waiting in EU for prices to drop below Nvidia levels where they should be from start, then Volta comes in, their 1160 probably will have performance similar to current 1080 and Vega for $250 less and AMD will go back to "just wait" phase.
Why the fuck should Nvidia do anything at all, if it is clear as daylight that 1st Vega will barely top the GTX1080, and HBM2 is gonna be expensive as shit?
And regarding mid-range, AMD has nothing but just another rebrand with Polaris.

>1070 levels
are you retarded? my fury x is 1070 level, why would a gpu with a die shrink and architectural improvements only be on a "1070 level"?
Use Marketing, it's super effective!

Have a (You).

>Vega might finally reach 1070
This fucking delusion.
Here's your Vega, released 3 months ago.
Clocked at 1530MHz

Same thing as last gen. Vega will be between the 1080 and Ti in performance. AMD will continue to have the better value/performance card, Nvidia will keep the performance crown. Screencap this post.

So what? The 14nm Polaris didn't beat the 28nm Fury X.
I disagree with the 1070 sentiment but I also doubt it will be significantly more than a 1080 at a significantly lower price.
The whole market situation with the late Volta release hints at Vega being around ~GTX 1080 performance and around or slightly less than 1080 pricing. Which is fine.
But there's no way in hell there are NOT Vega samples in nvidia laboratories RIGHT NOW and you know they'd be flipping their shit if it was anything overly disheartening.

>But there's no way in hell there are NOT Vega samples
There aren't, they didn't even have Ryzen samples until launch.

Polaris is literally a 3 times smaller chip than the Fury X, and it's not all that much slower.
