I really am upset. GNOME a shit

I'll believe it when I see it. I'm not convinced yet.

I don't like xfce.
I don't like KDE.
I don't like cinnamon.
I hate unity.
But I also hate gnome.
Budgie isn't that customizable yet.
Most other desktop environments take more time to config than should even be necessary.
Are there even any good ootb environments? The Linux community splintered so hard and each group made their own equally trash DE. I hate windows, I hate macos, but I feel like I'll never be satisfied with Linux.

Your thread is 2 days late Anon.
I'm actuallu disapointed by this.

What do you like? What would a desktop environment need to have to be your daily driver?
>>59776778
Looks like your arsehole is pretty tight.

Settings that aren't fragmented like xfce or kde (Themes alone are split across two or three windows for whatever reason. KDE its most heavily guilty of shit like this. Settings in Windows are largely unified, save a few)
Customization and extensions like gnome
A default interface that isn't unintuitive and oversized like gnome is
Tasteful animations
Something that isn't oversimplified like budgie (I actually like the look of budgie besides its application menu and lack of gnome-like extensions or plasmoids)
Something that isn't based on ancient technology (this is kind of wishful thinking right now, because only gnome is really 'supporting' Wayland right now, and its only competition just got tossed)
Perhaps I should try cinnamon again. I used to use it but it broke easily for me.
good gnome is best de

Wow, another thread about it!
Ah well, this is my chance. Can anybody redpill me on the differences? I recall using Ubuntu when it had GNOME and the latest version with Unity ... and the differences didn't seem that big. It was still pretty ugly and shit. Did I miss something crucial? What are the main advantages/downsides?
