I picked up a Samsung VR Gear 2016 model for £25 on Gumtree, its fucking amazing. Porn, 60fps Youtube videos, tons of good apps.

DLNA cinema pigasus? is great for watching movies.

I've used it with a Nexus phone, and with PSVR. The phone one isn't completely a gimmick, but 99% gimmick. Its ability to track using the gyro and compass is the main weak spot, but the resolution would become an issue really quickly if you fixed that.

Both. They are a stupid gimmick which is okay for watching porn. That's about the extent of their usefullness though. Get a real HMD or wait for next gen.

I bought a cheap chink one(bobo vr) and its okay for watching 3D movies(the yify 3D rips that are 2 side-by-side screens)

The actualy cardboard app or whatever is a waste of effort. Its just gimmiky shit. Even if you have a good controller.
