If I try to look for it I can see the screen tearing during high action scenes, but when I'm actually into the game I never notice it. Might help that I have a 144hrz monitor.

I went 1080p60 to 1080p120 to 1440p60, and honestly, I prefer the higher resolution.

I'll admit I've had a hit-and-miss experience with freesync on my 144Hz 1440p freesync monitor. For the hits, there is noticeably less input lag than vsync. Frame-rate drops are much more tolerable than with vsync (less stuttery) but still noticeable. When it works, it does eliminate tearing.

However, stutter / inconsistent frametimes from poorly made games are not remedied at all with freesync. I've also found that, subjectively, as long as you can keep your game above 60FPS, setting your monitor to 60Hz and just using vsync gives a smoother experience than freesync swinging between 60 and 80 fps, albeit one with more input lag. I have no idea why this is, perhaps I am sensitive to changes in fps even if the monitor's refresh rate is synced up.

Also, some games just straight up don't work with freesync. MGSV, for example still tears with freesync on.

Whenever I've played console games, it is incredibly refreshing to not have to worry about whether to turn on freesync, vsync, change in-game graphical quality settings, radeon settings, overclock settings, fan profiles, ect. I might just go back to basics and run at 1440p 60Hz all the time, just use vsync, and have an overkill GPU setup to ensure that it's ALWAYS above 60fps.
